Growing up in Connecticut Robert Sensei encountered numerous opportunities to participate in the Martial Arts. Attending school in West Hartford and walking, frequently throughout the Elmwood section on his way to catechism sensei would often notice a dojo adjacent to Talcott Middle School. Many times when his oldest brother was suspended from Middle School his mother would regularly leave him in the car while she attended to his brother’s lost privileges. Gazing through the windshield he would often notice images of people moving frantically throughout this workout area.

In 1984 at the age of 18 most of his time was allocated amongst his college coursework, friends, spending time at the local arcade, mall or playing fuzz-ball after classes at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). Often times several of his close friends would participate in afternoon activities which they would not necessary inform him of. After inquiring unconditionally they let him in on a secret. They attended martial arts classes locally at the American Legion Hall. To Sensei Robert’s surprise this studio was operated and instructed under the same instructor as the Elmwood Dojo…Shihan Paul Arel.

Although he was apprehensive about joining the class he knew that it was a matter of fact that martial arts training encompass mechanisms for personal development, he had no idea as how this system of “Great-Learning” would be the foundation of consummating knowledge and perfecting his life and things to come.

Robert Sensei teaches many children, young women and men and adults worldwide. With his several decades of training and teaching in many areas of the martial arts he brings a very complete and well rounded expertise to the dojo while offering an extremely efficient and personal curriculum. Students will learn in a safe, professional, fun atmosphere achieving and expecting more than what others believe is possible.
